Busy busy busy!!! That is how most of our weekends are. We had a fairly normal day Saturday with a trip to the mall – along with the rest of the Northern Beaches – because when you can’t go to the beach you go to the mall! We did spend our vouchers at JB Hi Fi and bought the new Missy Higgins CD which is very good. We also bought the latest James Bond movie Casino Royale – it is excellent – if you haven’t seen it and like 007 watch it!!
Today Sam played AFL and their team won – it was a glorious day in Sydney and it was really warm. Alex had fun playing with the other younger siblings (girls!!). We then headed home but didn’t really make it as we stopped in at our neighbours and then ended up having a BBQ at another mutual friends house – great great afternoon! But it wasn’t finished yet – we headed down to Manly for the last hour of daylight and the boys and Pete ended up swimming!! Last weekend in April and they were enjoying the surf, and of course the trip to Manly wouldn’t have been complete without Fish n’ Chips!! Yummo!
So a great weekend!
I hope to get some cards made this week after a great training session with Angela on Friday but with the way our weekends turn out there never really is any time. So maybe this week won’t be as busy as it is looking and I can put some pretty pictures up for you.

Today is a day to remember all those who fought in wars and although I know this is a day of significance it has never been a big part of my life – I think that is due to not having anyone in my family who fought in any wars (including Granparents etc), however I did know the father of an old friend, who signed up for WWII at the age of 16 – lied about his age and left his small country town and went off to war – he fought in Timor and was still a teenager at the end of the war. I haven’t seen him for years but remember well his stories and I hope that he is still fighting fit today.
We had a slow start to the day – with the weather not condusive to going out, the boys and I played at home while Pete went out briefly. Sam put Alex and I to the test with maths and writing and drawing tests, he played quiz master and took great pleasusre in marking us (kindly) and giving us our scores with updates after every challenge! We did brave the weather this afternoon for some shopping at the mall and then an early dinner with friends. A very nice way to end the day – it very much feels like Sunday though. Back to the routine tomorrow with school and the first day of helping to read with Alex’s class – should be interesting!!
We have finally booked flights to NZ for Christmas – this will be our first Christmas with Pete’s family – which is pretty slack after 11 years together but we will be staying in Auckland with Pete’s sister and cannot wait!!! Bargain flight prices too!
I have taken up the challenge over at Elite Challenges for their first sketch challenge, I will add the photo here but go over and have a look as the cards by the other ‘Elite Stampers’ are wonderful.
So this is something that Bloggers do to each other – a round robin of tagging I suspect. My upline in SU! Angela Sargeant has tagged me so now I am to tell you 7 things about myself and then tag 7 more.
- I am 6 foot tall! Most people I will tag have not met me IRL!
- I studied Architectue at uni – not quite finished but I got the gist of it!!
- I am addicted to COKE – yes the real thing!
- I didn’t travel OS till I was 25! I had a blast – best trip ever!!
- Born and bred in Sydney and still here – so many of my friends IRL are not from here.
- Don’t drink wine, beer or champers or most alcohol (a taste thing not a religious thing) also don’t drink coffee – yuk!

Ok so I only have 4 but that will have to do!
While the boys and I were at Mum and Dad’s holiday house at the beginning of the week, we went fishing! I have never taken them fishing although they have been with Pete and Grandpa before. It was not a very longing fishing trip or a very successful one (except for the fish!! They got heaps of yummy prawns!). We had fun – I loved watching them and having them show me what to do – it had been a very long while since I had baited a hook!! I have put together a collage of photos of them on the wharf. I am sure we will be have many more trips ahead of us.
Our last challenge for the Hub Cyber Crop (which was fab by the way – thanks girls!) was to do some Iris Folding. I had never done this before so it certainly was a challenge with lots of small strips of paper, lots of tape and a pattern to follow. I did a heart shaped one in the end and used it on this layout – which I love! And yes I know my photo is slighty out of focus but it was so gorgeous I had to use it!
The cyber crop at the Hub has been sponsored by Altogether Scrap – and the challenge was to do a layout with the theme – Altogether – no restrictions. So here is my effort. Also a sketch challenge from Becky Fleck – chosen by Kerry. We have one other challenge tonight which is Iris Folding – to be used on a card- I have never done this before so it really is a challenge!
